Hydrogen-Ready Vessel Fleet for a Renewable Developer
A pilot fleet of hydrogen-ready vessels engineered to scale as the client's offtake grows.
Client
Renewable energy developer
Location
Western Cape, South Africa
Solution
Pressure Vessels
Scale
Pilot to scale
Challenge
The client needed hydrogen storage that could start at pilot scale but scale to full offtake volumes without re-engineering the vessel design.
Context
As one of the client's first hydrogen infrastructure investments, the project set the technical baseline for future phases.
Engineering Approach
BTV designed a modular vessel platform sized for pilot volumes today, with fittings and supports pre-rated for the client's projected five-year capacity target.
Solution
Cryogenic and pressure-rated vessels for hydrogen storage, with transfer piping and safety systems built to the same spec the client will scale into.
Execution
The first fleet was fabricated, tested, and commissioned as a template batch, with documentation structured for repeat fabrication as volumes grow.

Results that held up
- 01
Pilot fleet commissioned on schedule
- 02
Design validated for direct scale-up without rework
- 03
Established BTV as the client's infrastructure partner for future phases
